Between the rain drops

The storm clouds gave me a break on Sunday evening and I got out for my 10K run after all. I started pretty late in the evening and by then it had cooled down again to a less taxing temperature of 18 C. Though I started a bit slower, I finished the loop in less than a minute longer than the week before. Sunday evening in Whitby provides streets quiet enough to run on (usually I'm on the sidewalks), recycling bins to navigate around, a lots of wild rabbits. As the rabbits sprint away from me, I'm reminded that mine's a longer haul...one in which I have to remain focused on the moment at hand and set aside the nervousness about what the next hill or next leg of the run will bring.

Last night Steph and Todd and Donna and I took in a rare night on the town. We ate Morroccan food on Front street (which included watching some average belly dancing) and found ourselves among a very mixed crowd of folks enjoying the Michael Buble concert (or "party" as he enjoined us to call it).  While not the kind of music that will likely find its way onto my running playlist, the mix of crooner hits from the past few decades was certainly very entertaining. Perhaps most refreshing and surprising was his sense of humour... tongue in cheek introductions of his top notch band, an homage to Michael Jackson, and a couple of good digs pertaining to the dalliances of a certain world's no.1 golfer and the reaction of his wife.  Think Sesame St.'s Swedish Chef meets Tiger's wife and you'd be in the right arena. Though it kept us all up way past our bed times, we really enjoyed ourselves.

Meanwhile, my sponsorship site for Magic Castle, which had been taken down over the weekend for some technical adjustments, is up and running again. I'm delighted to see some sponsorships already coming in. A big thanks for your donations; we're already 8% towards my fundraising goal.

Well, some rest awaits...gotta run.
